Add text, images and annotations online
Annotate a PDF with new text, images, shapes, highlights and links in your browser.
How it works
- Open the PDF and choose text, image, highlight, shape or link.
- Place and resize the new element; use keyboard movement or position fields as alternatives to dragging.
- Export, inspect the result and download, or continue editing in another compatible tool.
This tool adds overlays. To replace supported original text objects, choose Edit existing text. A shape over sensitive text is not genuine redaction.
When to use this tool
Add a note, correction label or annotation. To replace supported original text, choose Edit existing text instead.
What to check before sharing
Annotations are overlays. Covering text with a shape does not remove its underlying content. Use Redact for that purpose, and inspect exported placement after rotation.
Supported files
Adds new elements and visual whiteout. Use Edit existing text for actual text replacement; use Redact for content removal.
Inputs: PDF. Performance depends on your device. Download important work before closing the browser; local storage is not a backup.
Troubleshooting
Can I change existing words here? This workspace adds overlays. Edit existing text is a separate tool for supported single-line text objects. Can I edit a scanned page? You can annotate the image, but its original printed words are pixels. OCR adds searchable text without reconstructing an editable layout.

Do my documents leave my device?
Document processing runs in your browser. PDF Studio does not upload document files. Explicitly saved drafts and My files remain in this browser until deleted. Read aloud may use network-backed browser voices.
