Remove sensitive regions from the exported document
Mark areas to redact, export, then inspect the resulting PDF before sharing.
How it works
- Open the PDF and mark each sensitive region carefully.
- Export the redacted document. Pages are rebuilt as images with the marked regions removed.
- Inspect every affected page and verify that sensitive content cannot be selected or found in the result before sharing.
All exported pages are rebuilt as images with the marked regions removed. Original text, links, forms and metadata are discarded; other visible content remains in the output.
When to use this tool
Remove visible sensitive regions while discarding the original text, forms, links and metadata in the exported reconstruction.
What to check before sharing
An ordinary black shape is not redaction. This operation rasterizes all pages and loses searchable text and interactive features. Review region edges, other pages and visible identifying information.
Supported files
Export rebuilds all pages as images and removes original text, links, metadata and forms.
Inputs: PDF. Performance depends on your device. Download important work before closing the browser; local storage is not a backup.
Troubleshooting
If the file will not open, check it in another PDF reader. If it is password-protected, use Remove a PDF password with a password you know. For scans that need selectable text, run Make a PDF searchable first.
Common questions
Is a black rectangle enough?
No. A normal overlay may leave underlying content intact. Use the dedicated Redact export.
Will forms and selectable text remain?
No. This implementation rebuilds pages as images and discards those original features.
Which files can I use?
Supported inputs: PDF. Export rebuilds all pages as images and removes original text, links, metadata and forms.
Is this free?
Core tools require no account or subscription and add no watermark.
Do my documents leave my device?
Document processing runs in your browser. PDF Studio does not upload document files. Explicitly saved drafts and My files remain in this browser until deleted. Read aloud may use network-backed browser voices.
