Rotate PDF: common problems and how to fix them

Resolve every page turns when only one should and the page is upside down after one turn. Understand the limits before retrying.

Buddy’s illustration: Sideways page → Upright page. Your document’s result depends on its content and settings.

Follow these steps

  1. Choose your PDF and tap Rotate under the page that needs turning. Each tap turns that page clockwise by 90 degrees.
  2. On a phone, Add PDFs and Undo/Redo are attached below the header. Open More rotation options for Rotate all pages or page numbers such as 1, 3-5.
  3. Choose Save rotated PDF, download the result and inspect the orientation of every changed page.

Every page turns when only one should

Check whether the all-pages action or an empty range was used. Restore the original orientation and apply the operation to the intended page only.

The page is upside down after one turn

Apply another 90° turn or choose 180° where available. Compare text direction rather than relying on the thumbnail aspect ratio alone.

Check whether this is the right operation

Rotation changes how a page faces. A 90° turn is not mirroring and does not move the page to a different position.

A more useful retry

For mixed scanner output, correct the affected pages individually and leave upright pages alone. Verify the first and last lines after export; a changed rotation is useful only when the page is comfortable to read.

Check the result

Rotation changes display orientation. Use Organize when only selected pages should rotate.

Keep the original. When this task produces a file, reopen the download in the application where you will use it and inspect the affected pages. An illustration explains the operation; it is not a recorded processing test.

Practical tips

  • Use the per-page control for mixed orientations. The optional all-pages and page-number controls are useful for a consistently sideways scan, but preview the chosen range before processing.
  • Check whether the all-pages action or an empty range was used. Restore the original orientation and apply the operation to the intended page only.
  • Apply another 90° turn or choose 180° where available. Compare text direction rather than relying on the thumbnail aspect ratio alone.
