Read a long PDF with search and continuous scrolling
A reader wants to review a long manual and jump to Alpha without editing it.
Open PDF Reader →Follow these steps
- Choose your PDF. On a phone, pages scroll continuously below the attached reading toolbar.
- Use the page-number field to jump, the zoom control to fit the page width, or Search and reading options for text search, the outline and bookmarks. The + button adds PDF files.
- Read without exporting. On desktop, the existing reading views and download controls remain available. View rotation does not change the PDF.
The document and the intended outcome
A reader wants to review a long manual and jump to Alpha without editing it. Open the document, select continuous viewing, search for a known word and use its outline where available.
Make this example work for your file
For a long manual, navigate with its outline rather than scrolling through every page. Search a distinctive phrase to find a section, then read the surrounding paragraph; a match alone may lack the context needed to interpret it.
Choose only the settings this case needs
Choose the viewing mode before adjusting zoom. Search real text and use page positions for navigation. Keep page orientation changes in the reader separate from exported Rotate changes.
When the example needs a different approach
The PDF may not contain bookmarks. Use page navigation or search; printed chapter titles alone do not create reader outline entries.
Check the result
View rotation and zoom do not alter document bytes. Extracted text can have an incorrect reading order in untagged documents. The Reader prompts for a password for protected files. Reading retains the encrypted source; use Remove password explicitly before editing.
Keep the original. When this task produces a file, reopen the download in the application where you will use it and inspect the affected pages. An illustration explains the operation; it is not a recorded processing test.
Practical tips
- Choose the viewing mode before adjusting zoom. Search real text and use page positions for navigation. Keep page orientation changes in the reader separate from exported Rotate changes.
- A photographed page has no text layer to search. Make a searchable copy with OCR first, then verify recognition against the visible page.
- The PDF may not contain bookmarks. Use page navigation or search; printed chapter titles alone do not create reader outline entries.
